This is a notification Moodle provides to all administrators letting them know there is a newer, more stable and secure version of your Learning Management System available.
If you are seeing it, its because you are recognised as a System Administrator in your LMS.
Its important that you don’t ignore these messages.
These newer versions of Moodle provide updates and bug fixes criticial to keeping your Learning Management System working.
Updates improve the security of your LMS keeping it safe from hackers for you and your users. Imagine the damage someone getting into your LMS and accessing your student records could cause. Even if a hack doesn’t result in any actual damage to your data or users, the reputational damage could be enough to kill your business.
Bug fixes are improvements to the software based on feedback from thousands of users. Things like broken links, errors and generally frustrating things found inside the system when used in real world applications. Bug fixes not only fix the bugs, they save you and your users the frustration of having to deal with them in your day to day use of the system.
If you have received this notifcation, you should check with your system administrator that the update has been scheduled (you’ll want to do this at a time to minimise interuption to your trainers, other administrators and students).
